Event overview
The East Fortune Duathlon takes place on 22 March 2026 at East Fortune Race Track in East Lothian EH39 5JX. The event is held on the motor racing circuit, which has smooth tarmac, sweeping bends and an 11 m wide track. The event includes a draft-legal sprint race that also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 European Sprint Distance Duathlon Championships and the 2026 Scottish Duathlon Championship. Status: open. Race formats and distances
- Sprint (Draft-Legal): 5 km run, 20 km bike, 2.5 km run. Separate Female and Open waves in line with British Triathlon transgender policy.
- Sprint (Non-Drafting): 5 km run, 20 km bike, 2.5 km run. Single wave; cyclists must maintain 10 m from the rider ahead unless overtaking.
- Juniors:
- Tristar 1 (Ages 9-10): 1,000 m run, 2.3 km bike, 500 m run.
- Tristar 2 (Ages 11-12): 1,400 m run, 4.6 km bike, 700 m run.
- Tristar 3 (Ages 13-14): 1,800 m run, 6.9 km bike, 900 m run.
- Youth (Ages 15-16): 2,200 m run, 13.8 km bike, 1,100 m run.
Entry, eligibility and extras
Entry limits listed are 300 for the draft-legal sprint, 100 for non-drafting sprint, and 30 places for each junior category. To be eligible to qualify for the European or Scottish championships athletes must hold Core or Ultimate membership of Triathlon Scotland, Triathlon England or Welsh Triathlon and register to qualify before 20 March 2026. Non-members require a British Triathlon race pass (costs shown on entry). Race T-shirts and wooden finisher’s medals are optional; entries on or before 31 January 2026 are guaranteed the option to purchase these.
