Triple Dam 10K
The Triple Dam 10K is a loop trail run held at the Power Dam Recreation Area in Perkinsville, VT. The course starts and finishes at the old Perkinsville Power Dam on the Black River and covers gently rolling terrain on a mix of grassy trails and dirt roads.
The route follows the river downstream to North Springfield Reservoir, crosses at the base of the North Springfield Dam, returns upstream toward Stoughton Pond Dam, then crosses the Black River before finishing back at the Power Dam. The river crossing is typically low and slow, about calf-deep; a rope will be in place across the river and a lifeguard will be available to assist.
This event operates as a benefit for the Springfield High School Cross Country team and runs under a special use permit with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Entry fees vary by age group and by whether registration is completed before the stated deadline or on race day. There is no refund or transfer policy; entries that can not be used are treated as donations to the cross country team.
Post-run offerings include water, hydration drinks, cider donuts, cookies, and frozen treats, and the finish area is adjacent to a swimming hole. Well-behaved short-leashed dogs are allowed. The event is part of the Western New Hampshire Trail Running Series and the Upper Valley Running Series. Parking is available near the start and finish areas.
