Triple Dam 10K
The Triple Dam 10K is a 10 km (6.2 miles) trail loop on gently rolling terrain that begins at the old Perkinsville Power Dam on the Black River and returns to the same Power Dam Recreation Area off Maple St. in Perkinsville, VT. The route follows a mix of grassy trails and dirt roads downstream to North Springfield Reservoir, crosses the river at the base of the North Springfield Dam, then runs back upstream on dirt roads and grassy trails toward Stoughton Pond Dam before crossing the Black River and finishing near a swimming hole about one third of a mile after the river crossing.
The river crossing is expected to be low, about knee-deep and slow; a rope will be available across the river and a lifeguard will be on hand to assist if needed. The event provides post-run refreshments including water, an electrolyte drink, cider donuts, chocolate chip cookies, and Otter Pops.
This event is a benefit for Springfield High School Cross Country. Entries are treated as donations to the team; there are no refunds and no transfers to other runners or other years. Parking is available near the start and finish. Music players may be used with one earbud in; runners should be aware of short road sections with possible vehicle traffic. Well-behaved, short-leashed dogs are allowed. The race operates under a special use permit with the US Army Corps of Engineers and is an equal opportunity outdoor recreation service provider.
