Tri The Illini
Tri The Illini is a sprint triathlon held on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign, Illinois. The event starts and finishes at the Activities and Recreation Center and the swim takes place in the ARC outdoor 50 meter pool.
The race consists of these segments:
- 300 meter pool swim in a 50 meter outdoor pool
- 14 mile bike on a flat course
- 5 kilometer run through the UIUC campus
Registration opens May 4, 2026. Fees vary by category: Individual $70, Collegiate $55, Relay $110. To be guaranteed a race shirt, registrants must sign up by September 12; after that shirts are distributed at packet pickup on a first come first serve basis while supplies last.
Packet pickup is available Saturday 9/26 at Body N' Sole, 1317 N Dunlap Ave, Savoy, IL from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, and Sunday morning at ARC Gym 3, 201 E Peabody Dr., Champaign, IL from 6:15 to 7:30 AM. Race morning includes transition access, packet pickup, and a mandatory pre-race meeting.
Tri The Illini is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and follows USAT rules and regulations. Parking is available at lot E-14 at the intersection of First and Kirby on the University of Illinois campus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
