Event Overview
The Tri Goddess Triathlon takes place at the Portage Lake Unit of Waterloo State Recreation Area, located in Grass Lake, Michigan. This multisport event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and features several disciplines including triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike formats. The courses are set within a natural environment approximately 12 miles west of Chelsea.
The bike portions of the events are conducted on paved roads with rolling hills, while the run courses consist of a combination of road and trail surfaces. Participants entering the Waterloo State Recreation Area are required to have a Michigan State Park permit or a Recreation Passport.
Available Event Categories
Participants can choose from several competitive and non-competitive options:
- Sprint Triathlon: An 800m lake swim, a 10.3-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile run.
- Super Sprint Triathlon: A 400m lake swim, a 10.3-mile bike ride, and a 1.5-mile run.
- Sprint Duathlon: A 1.5-mile run, a 10.3-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile run.
- Sprint Aquabike: An 800m lake swim and a 10.3-mile bike ride.
- Sprint Triathlon Relay: A team of two or three people completing the sprint distance.
- Open Water Practice Swimmers: Non-competitive swims at distances of 800m or 1 mile.
Race Experience and Amenities
Post-race festivities include food provided by staff and volunteers, such as pancakes and breakfast burritos. As a sanctioned event, all participants must hold either an annual or a one-day USA Triathlon membership. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
