About the race
Trans Scania is an almost unsupported trail run across Skåne covering a distance of 246 km with a cut off time of 56 hours. The course mainly follows the Skåneleden trail system, with two documented deviations near Lövestad and Brösarp provided in the gpx files and map documents. Major deviations from the marked route may lead to disqualification; small detours for obstacles are accepted but must not be used to gain advantage.
The event is intended for experienced, qualified runners. Applicants must have completed a 100 mile event, a 24 hour race, or a similar effort within the last three years. Organizers review applications case by case and decide who may register. If more than twenty qualified applications arrive within the first week, a lottery will be used to allocate the initial starting places and remaining applicants are placed in a queue.
Trans Scania is almost unsupported aside from one organizer-handled dropbag and an optional finish bag. Each participant may hand in one dropbag and one smaller finish bag; the dropbag must be reasonably sized and light enough for one person to carry, with a maximum size of 40x40x50 cm and a maximum weight of 10 kg. Other support is not provided, though personal support crews and pacers are allowed. Tracking devices are mandatory and provided by the organizers; a public live map will be available but its accuracy is not guaranteed. The registration fee is 950 SEK and includes tracker rental, dropbag handling and a finisher t shirt, and optional transportation from Lund to the start. The registration is personal and non refundable and non transferable.
The route passes through farmland, nature reserves and habitats for wildlife. Runners may encounter cows, bulls, horses, wild boar, badgers, wolf packs, the common European adder and ticks. Littering is prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
