About the race
The Train Up 5K and Fun Run is a community fundraising event at the CHA campus in Northfield, Illinois, benefiting the Train Up Campaign. The event includes multiple running and walking distances that begin and end on the CHA campus at 315 Waukegan Rd.
Distances
- 5K: paved course begins and ends on the CHA campus
- 1 Mile: paved start and finish with a midcourse wood chipped trail
- 1/4 Mile Kids' Dash: on CHA campus for grades 1 to 3 and ages 6 to 9
- 50 Yard Kids' Dash: on CHA campus for preschool, kindergarten and ages 3 to 6
The chip timed 5K follows pavement north on Waukegan, turns east at Willow Road, passes Fox Meadow Park, runs south through the Fox Meadow neighborhood, and goes through the Convent of the Holy Spirit campus before returning to CHA. 5K medals will be awarded to first place finishers in specified age or school categories. 5K participants registered before October 1 will receive a fleece pullover hooded sweatshirt; 5K participants will receive a multi use headwrap or neck gaiter.
1 Mile participants traverse campus pavement with a scenic wood chipped section and gentle slopes. Student 1 Mile participants receive a commemorative race decal. Post race, all participants receive a finisher pack and replenishing drinks and snacks. Kids dash finishers receive a commemorative decal and dash finisher pack.
Notes on children and accompaniment are provided for the 1 Mile. Registration opens August 21 and closes September 18; published entry fees apply. A Friends of CHA Sponsorship Village with paid concessions will operate on site and all proceeds benefit the Train Up Campaign.
