Train to Trails Half Marathon and 5K
The Train to Trails Half Marathon and 5K takes place on the Southern Link Trailway in Michigan. Both events utilize a flat, paved trailway that passes through wooded areas and farmland, crossing over the Flint River. The event is designated as a cupless race to reduce waste, requiring participants to carry their own hydration packs or reusable cups for use at aid stations.
Available distances include:
- 13.1 Miles
- 3.1 Miles
The half marathon is a point-to-point course. It begins at the Millington Library and follows a route through the town of Millington before joining the Southern Link Trailway and finishing at the Columbiaville Community Center. A shuttle service is provided to transport half marathon participants from the finish area in Columbiaville to the starting line in Millington. There is a course time limit based on an 18-minute-per-mile pace for the half marathon.
The 5K run/walk is an out-and-back course that begins and ends at the Columbiaville Community Center. Participants for the 5K can park in designated areas in Columbiaville near the start and finish location.
Registered participants receive a tech shirt or tank, a finisher medal, and access to an after-race party with food and music. Overall and age group awards are presented for both distances, including categories for masters and age brackets ranging from under 19 to over 80. Packet pick-up is available at the Columbiaville Community Center on the day before the event and the morning of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
