Train to Trails Half Marathon and 5K
The Train to Trails event offers three routed events on the Southern Link Trailway and nearby roads. Distances include:
- Half Marathon, 13.1 miles
- Half Marathon Ruck, 13.1 miles
- 5K Run/Walk, 3.1 miles
The point to point half marathon and ruck start at Millington Library and finish at Columbiaville Community Center. The half routes use the paved Southern Link Trailway, passing wooded areas, farmland, and crossing the Flint River. The 5K is an out and back that starts and finishes at the Columbiaville Community Center; athletes use designated parking areas in town.
The event is cupless. Runners must carry a personal hydration pack or purchase a Hydrapak Speedcup; aid stations provide refills of water or hydration mix. Shuttle service runs from the finish area to the half marathon start and loading begins on race day. The start area will have bathrooms, music, and a gear drop; packet pickup is available at the Columbiaville Community Center on the days before and on race day.
Entry fee items include a gender specific tech shirt or tank, aid stations, finisher medal, photos, an after race party with food and music, and transportation to the half marathon start. Awards are given overall and by age group; the ruck division receives a completion patch. Half marathon runners and ruckers must be able to maintain a sub 19:00 minutes per mile pace for course closure. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
