Event overview
Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra - Winter is a Limitless Trails backyard ultra held in Crickhowell, Powys. The event uses a repeated loop of roughly 4.17 miles on a course that is half trail and half tarmac. The route has one gradual climb, a short steep section, and otherwise relatively flat terrain. Medals are awarded to participants who reach 32 miles. The last person to complete a loop receives the winner's trophy.
Format, rules and facilities
The event follows the backyard ultra format: each loop starts precisely one hour after the previous start, and each loop must be completed within an hour to count. Competitors must be present at the starting corral at the bell and must begin each loop at the bell. Except for restroom breaks, runners may not leave the course during a loop. Common aid stations are permitted; personal aid during a loop is not. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not allowed.
Supporter rules include no supporters in the starting corral and a ban on phone calls to or from runners while they are on the course except in emergencies. On-site services include medics, showers and toilets, event photographers with free post-event downloads, and parking at HQ for a fee that also enters a ballot for a free future event. Basic camping with nearby toilets is available on a field; an independent local campsite is also listed as an option. Timing will be provided and results report distance covered by each runner.
