Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra - Winter
Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra - Winter takes place on 14 February 2026 near Crickhowell in Powys. The event uses a single loop of roughly 4.2 miles, run repeatedly until only one runner remains. The course is split about half trail and half tarmac, with one gradual climb, a short steep section, and otherwise relatively flat terrain. Medals are awarded to anyone who reaches 32 miles, and the last person to complete a loop receives the winner's trophy. The published entry fee is £100 and the minimum age is 17. The event is currently full; new entries are being placed on a waiting list.
The format follows a backyard ultra style. Each loop begins exactly one hour after the previous loop, and all competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and start on time. Each loop must be completed within the hour to count. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except for restrooms. Personal aid on a loop is not allowed; common aid stations are provided, with one at HQ. Artificial aids including trekking poles are not permitted. Timing will be available and final results state distance covered. Supporter rules include no supporters in the corral and no phone calls to or from runners on course except in an emergency. Medics will be on site and basic facilities include showers and toilets. Parking at HQ carries a small fee and basic camping with toilets is available nearby.
