Trails of Mena Marathon and 20 mile run
The event features two trail races held on 13 March 2027 at North Wingfield Community Resource Centre in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. It is the third edition of the event named after the organisers' dog Mena.
The route is an anti-clockwise circular course that combines trail, field and woodland terrain with several ascents and descents. The course follows the 5 Pits Trail to Pilsley and Tibshelf, continues east toward Teversal and Rowthorne near Hardwick Hall without entering the Hardwick grounds, crosses the M1, then passes through the farmland around Sutton Scarsdale and Sutton Springs Wood before rejoining the 5 Pits Trail back to the finish. The course will be partially marked with arrows at major junctions and GPX files are provided; participants are responsible for their own navigation.
Checkpoints: two on the 20 mile route and three on the marathon route. Checkpoints provide drinks and both sweet and savoury food. There is medic cover on course and at race HQ. Every finisher receives a medal and there are prizes for first male and first female in each race. Light refreshments are available at the finish. A seven hour time limit applies. Free parking is available at the community centre and on adjoining estate roads.
