Tower Trail Run
The Tower Trail Run is an annual trail running event held in Mount Gambier, South Australia. The event takes place within a volcanic landscape featuring dormant volcanoes and lakes. Participants can choose from several distances:
- 5 km Fun Run
- 10 km Trail Run
- 21 km Trail Run
- 32 km Trail Run
- 56 km Ultra Marathon
The courses navigate various terrain types including single-track dirt trails, technical limestone sections, stairs, and sealed paths. The lower distance of 5 km is open to all ages, though the course transitions through dirt and stairs which are not pram-friendly. For the 10 km, 21 km, and 32 km events, the minimum age for participation is 11 years. The 56 km ultra marathon requires participants to be at least 18 years old.
The longer distances are designed as multi-lap courses. The 21 km consists of two 10.5 km laps, the 32 km consists of three 10.5 km laps, and the 56 km ultra marathon is composed of four 14 km laps. All routes are professionally marked and include regular aid stations and course marshals for runner support. While the event is open to walkers and runners, specialized ultra distances are intended for those with endurance experience on rugged volcanic terrain.
