TOUGH HIKE 27km Challenge - Surrey 3 Peaks
This is a guided day hike of approximately 27 km (17 miles) with about 760 m of total ascent. The route crosses the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and includes the three highest points in Surrey: Leith Hill (294 m), Holmbury Hill (261 m) and Box Hill (224 m). The trail passes through woodland ridges, sandy tracks and the Denbies Wine Estate, and includes views from Leith Hill Tower.
Typical hiking time on the route is 7 to 8.5 hours, with an average pace of 4.2–4.6 km/h. Participants should expect steep sections, some loose ground and a short section that requires using hands because of the steepness. Due to the route length and intensity, the pace will be maintained and the hike will not be shortened.
The event is graded as challenging and is intended for experienced, fit walkers rather than beginners or intermediate hikers. Train travel is arranged as part of the event logistics. Participants are advised to bring hiking boots or shoes, at least 2 litres of water, packed lunch, waterproof jacket and trousers, and hat and gloves if cold. The guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider. The listed cost is £33 plus Eventbrite booking fee and refunds are available up to seven days before the event.
