Topeka Pumpkin Run
The Topeka Pumpkin Run is an annual Halloween themed community event at Felker Park in Topeka. It features a 5K Run/Walk, a Family Stroll and a Kid's Fun Run. The event is hosted by Topeka South Rotary and the Topeka High Interact Club and raises funds for Rotary International's PolioPlus program to support polio eradication.
Participants are encouraged to wear creative Halloween costumes. The route is decorated with Halloween themes. Immediately after the race there is a centralized Trunk or Treat hosted by high school students and Rotary members for participants and local families.
Course details include:
- 5K Run/Walk: 1.55 mile loop starting and finishing in the Felker Park parking lot.
- Fun Run/Family Stroll: 1.25 mile loop on the Shunga Trail with a marked turnaround.
- Kid's Fun Run: short course for children starting in the Felker Park area.
The 5K course begins in the Felker Park parking lot, heads south to the Shunga Trail, continues east to McDonald Field's parking lot as the turnaround point, and returns to the Felker Park parking lot to finish. The Fun Run and Family Stroll follow the Shunga Trail to a staffed turnaround and return to the same start finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
