Topeka Pumpkin Run
The Topeka Pumpkin Run is an annual Halloween themed community event held at Felker Park in Topeka, KS. The event features a 5K Run/Walk, a Family Stroll and a Kid's Fun Run, and it is hosted by Topeka South Rotary and the Topeka High Interact Club. Proceeds support Rotary International's PolioPlus program for polio eradication.
Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and the route is decorated with Halloween themes. The event route and activities bring together runners, walkers and families in a community setting.
Course details:
- 5K Run/Walk - 1.55 mile loop
- Family Stroll / Fun Run - 1.2 mile loop
- Kid's Fun Run - distance not provided
The 5K course begins in the Felker Park parking lot, heads south to the Shunga Trail, continues east to McDonald Field's parking lot for a turnaround, then returns to finish in the Felker Park parking lot. The Fun Run and Family Stroll follow a 1.2 mile loop that also starts in the Felker Park parking lot, proceeds south to the Shunga Trail and turns around at marked signs with staff before returning to the finish.
Immediately following the race there is a centralized Trunk or Treat hosted by high school students and Rotary members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
