Event overview
Top Of The World Ultra is a trail running event scheduled for June 27, 2026 in Sun Peaks, British Columbia. The event offers three distance options: 50 km, 28 km, and 15 km. Registration includes a finisher medal, a custom finisher cup, event bib, timing via a timing app, and a $5 donation to the Sun Peaks Mountain Rescue Society. The event acknowledges that it takes place on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory. There is a participant limit of 400.
Course and logistics
The start and finish are in Sun Peaks Main Village at the base of the Sunburst Express chair lift (3150 Creekside Way, Sun Peaks, BC). Routes use single track trails, technical ascents and descents, mountain bike trails, forest service roads, meadows, and forests. The 50 km route reaches the summit of Mount Tod at 2130 m and crosses Orient Hill, Little McGillivray Lake, and Mount Morrisey, with about 1600 m total elevation gain and loss. The 28 km route also reaches Mount Tod and has about 1164 m of elevation change. The 15 km route includes 673 m of elevation change.
Aid station layout:
- 50 km: aid stations at about 8.5 km, 27 km, 45 km; water at about 19 km and 35 km.
- 28 km: aid stations at about 8.5 km and 19 km.
- 15 km: aid station at about 8.5 km.
Additional notes: 50 km runners may use one drop bag to Aid Station #2. The event is cupless; participants must carry a reusable cup and at least 1 litre of water. Poles, trail shoes, and hydration vests are allowed or required as noted. Crew and spectators may access the top aid station via the chair lift with a purchased pass.
