About the race
The Top Of The World trail event takes place at Sun Peaks, British Columbia on June 27, 2026 and supports the Sun Peaks Mountain Rescue Society. The event acknowledges that it occurs on the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory.
Distances offered:
- 50 km covering three Sun Peaks mountains.
- 28 km route reaching Mount Tod summit.
- 17 km (listed as 15 km ish) Valley View route under chair lifts.
All routes run on ascending and descending single track, technical trails, mountain bike trails, forest service roads, meadows and forested sections. The 50 km course reaches Mount Tod summit at 2130 m, crosses Orient Hill, passes Little McGillivray Lake and includes Mount Morrisey, with roughly 1600 m total elevation gain and loss. Aid and water locations for the 50 km route include aid stations at 8.5 km, 27 km and 45 km, and water stations at 19 km and 35 km; there is a 10 hour cutoff at Aid Station 3. The 28 km route includes aid stations at 8.5 km and 19 km and about 1164 m of elevation change. The shorter route includes one aid station at 8.5 km and about 673 m of elevation change.
Registration includes a $5 donation to the rescue society, a finisher medal and a custom finishers cup, finish line food, bib and manual timing. The event is cupless so participants must carry a reusable cup. There is a 400 participant limit; registration closes when full or on June 19, 2026. A virtual entry option is available with mailed swag and a $5 donation; virtual registration closes May 1, 2025. Required gear for the 50 km and 28 km routes includes a minimum of 1 litre of water, jacket layer, gloves and a space blanket. One drop bag is permitted for 50 km runners to Aid Station 2 and must be dropped off on event morning. Aid stations provide drinks, fruit and basic snacks.
