The Toonerville Trail Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving running event in Springfield, VT on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Distances offered:

The course is a mostly flat out-and-back 5K along the Black River, starting and finishing at the Toonerville Trail trailhead at 280 Clinton St. Proceeds benefit the Springfield Food Bank, Weathersfield Food Shelf, and Springfield High School Cross Country. A virtual entry option is available for a donation; submitted virtual results may be posted in the event results.
Logistics and extras
Online registration is $25 through Tuesday, November 25 at 11:59 p.m. ET. In-person registration at packet pick-up and on race day is $30. Packet pick-up is Wednesday, November 26, 3-5 p.m. at Edgar May Health & Recreation Center (140 Clinton St) and Thursday, November 27, 7:45-8:45 a.m. at the trailhead. Parking is available at the trailhead lot, located between Image Tek Labels and United Construction & Forestry. No refunds or transfers are allowed.
Post-run provisions include water, electrolyte drink, and light snacks (Wellwood Orchard cider donuts). Finishers receive commemorative Turkey Trot socks. Prizes include 1st place male and female overall and age-group awards, best costume, and additional prizes. A food drive will collect canned/non-perishable items; each item earns a ticket for a drawing for a fully compostable wreath. Music players, strollers, and well-behaved short-leashed dogs are permitted with stated cautions. Weather may be chilly and possibly snowy or icy.
