About the race
Tombstone Trot takes place at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha, Wisconsin on October 18, 2026. The event offers multiple short-distance running and walking options through the tree-lined, historic grounds of the cemetery, with a route that passes landscaped areas and seasonal fall foliage. The start/finish area is lined with American flags.

Registration details vary by event. Registration opens on 2026-01-01. Most adult events close registration on 2026-08-30, while the kids run accepts registrations through the event date. Typical registration fees are $32.50 for the adult events and free for the kids run.
A portion of event proceeds supports Friends of Prairie Home Cemetery, Inc., a nonprofit organization; funds this year will go toward installing a monument and flagpole in the newer Veterans section of the cemetery. The event also includes a 50/50 raffle with tickets priced at $5 each or five for $20, and cemetery history books available for purchase at $10 each. Cash and credit are accepted for raffle tickets.
