About the Event
The Tombstone Trot is a running and walking event taking place at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha, Wisconsin. This year's event celebrates the cemetery's 177th anniversary. A portion of the proceeds benefits Friends of Prairie Home Cemetery, Inc., a nonprofit organization; funds will support installing a monument and flagpole in the cemetery's Veterans section.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 5K Run
- 5K Ruck
- 2 Mile Walk
- Kiddos Run (a 1K event for children)
All participants receive a custom, handcrafted wooden finisher award, known as a woodle. Top overall finishers and age-group winners also receive custom awards. The courses wind through the historic, tree-lined grounds of the cemetery. On race day, there is a 50/50 raffle, and Prairie Home Cemetery history books are available for purchase.
