About the race
Tom Brennan Memorial 5 km is a road race held in Phoenix Park on January 1, 2027, hosted by Liffey Valley AC. The course starts and finishes on Furze Road, passing the Eagle Monument on Chesterfield Avenue. The permit for the event is approved, cert. no: 26/240.
The course is described as flat and fast and uses chip timing with start-to-finish timing. Chipped race numbers are posted in advance; there are no registrations on the day. All finishers receive a bespoke bobble hat. Entry fee is €28.50.
Prizes include awards for the first three men and first three women, a €200 bonus prize if the course record is broken by the first man or first woman, first junior man and woman prizes, and team awards for the first three teams (three to score). Veteran categories are offered for men and women at O/35, O/40, O/45, O/50, O/55, O/60, O/65, O/70, and O/75; at least three entrants per age group are required for a prize to be awarded.
The event is part of the Lord Mayor’s 5 Alive Challenge. Minimum age for participation is 13 years. For safety reasons participants may not run or walk with buggies, strollers, prams, or dogs. If the race is cancelled or postponed due to severe weather, unsafe conditions, or an Act of God, no refunds will be issued. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
