Event Overview
The TOBAY Triathlon is a two-day multisport event in Oyster Bay, New York, held at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. The main adult events occur on Sunday, while the Junior Triathlon is held on Saturday.
Distances and Disciplines
The event offers several formats:
- Individual Triathlon: A 0.5-mile swim in Oyster Bay Harbor, a 12.3 km bike route, and a 5 km run.
- AquaBike: Combines the swim and bike legs.
- BikeRun: Combines the bike and run legs.
- Relay Team: Teams of 2 or 3 members can complete the triathlon.
- Junior Triathlon (two distances): For participants aged 7-14, held on Saturday. Both courses feature a swim in Oyster Bay Harbor and biking and running within Roosevelt Park.
- Short Course: 100-yard swim, 2.5-mile bike, 1-mile run.
- Long Course: 200-yard swim, 2.5-mile bike, 1-mile run.
The adult Individual Triathlon is open to participants aged 14 and over.
Course Details
The adult triathlon course starts in the Town of Oyster Bay and goes through surrounding towns. The bike segment is described as a single loop through Oyster Bay and Oyster Bay Cove, noted as fairly hilly but finishing downhill and flat. The run course goes through Mill Neck and Brookville, heading up to the Planting Fields Arboretum and back down to Roosevelt Park.
Participant Information
All registered participants receive a shirt and a custom finisher medal, though swag is not guaranteed for registrations after August 18th. A $5 discount is offered to residents of the Town of Oyster Bay. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
