About the race
The To Infinity & Beyond Halloween 5K is a community running event at Rockland Lake State Park in Valley Cottage, New York. Money raised will go to a memorial fund that benefits children who struggle with mental illness and intellectual developmental issues. Race day includes a kids fun run, a costume contest, a marching band, a clown, a DJ, face painting, a pumpkin patch, apple cider, and a themed warm-up and march-in to the song "Thriller."
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K: adult unisex shirts; fee $40; ages 0–9 free; ages 10–18 $30
- Kids Fun Run (100 yards): separate shirt; no fee
Awards are presented by decade for age groups and there are multiple costume awards in three age categories (0–9, 10–17, 18 and above) for best, funniest, best hair, and scariest. An award is also given for best team concept; a team must be registered and include at least five members. Shirts for the 5K are adult unisex sizes and the kids fun run has a separate shirt.
