Event Overview
The Tionesta Lions Club 5k is scheduled for a Saturday in July. It features three separate events: a 5k run, a 5k walk, and a Virtual 5k. The event is organized by the Tionesta Lions Club, with any profits going back to the community through the club's projects.
Location and Course
The race begins at the Tionesta Lighthouse, located on a 22.5-acre island on the Allegheny River. This is the site of the Sherman Memorial Lighthouse.
The course consists of two loops around the lighthouse path. It then goes out onto residential roads towards the riverside cemetery before returning to the lighthouse to finish. Portions of the route use town streets that will not be closed to traffic but will be monitored by the Sheriff's Office and race volunteers.
Event Details and Rules
The run and walk are separate divisions, with walkers starting a couple of minutes after the runners. Pets are not permitted at the event. There is a policy against smoking, alcohol, or drug use. Unsupervised children should not be dropped off at the race.
Awards are presented for both running and walking. The top three overall male and female finishers are recognized in each division. Additional age group awards are given for first place in each category. Age groups for runners span from 14 and under to 70+, while walker categories include 19 and under through 70+. Awards are not mailed; winners must be present to receive them. All winners must complete the race under their own power.
Participants can pre-order a race shirt by a specific date in June. Refreshments are provided after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
