Tinsel Trot 5K & 1K Fun Run
The Tinsel Trot is a running event offering two distances: a 5K run and a 1K fun run. It takes place on Saturday, December 5, 2026, in Silsbee, Texas, at a new location: 103 South 3rd Street.
The 5K run is a timed event. Registration includes a t-shirt (youth S-L, adult S-XXXL). Early registration until November 14 is $30; after that date, the price increases to $40. The 1K fun run is free for children aged 1-10; a t-shirt can be purchased separately during registration. T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations completed after 12:00 PM on the Thursday before the race. The event has a no-refunds policy.
On race day, late registration and packet pickup are available from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM. A warm-up session is scheduled for 7:30 AM. The timed 5K starts at 8:00 AM, and the kids' 1K fun run begins after the awards ceremony.
Packet pickup starts on Friday, December 4, at 1:00 PM at the Silsbee Public Library (295 N. 4th Street).
Awards are given for both distances. For the 1K, awards are presented for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in five age categories (1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10). For the 5K, awards are given for overall male and female winners and for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in nine age groups, ranging from 1-10 to 70+.
A "Jolliest Costume Contest" will be judged before the race, with awards for the best holiday costume. The event is followed by the Christmas in the Big Thicket Festival. The race benefits the Friends of the Silsbee Public Library. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
