Thunderbird Warrior Challenge - Bayfield, WI
The Thunderbird Warrior Challenge is a fundraising trail running event held June 13, 2026 in Bayfield, Wisconsin at Mt. Ashwabay. Proceeds are split between Camp Benesi and Mt. Ashwabay, both nonprofit organizations. Camp Benesi is described as a recreational retreat serving veterans and Gold Star families. Mt. Ashwabay is a nonprofit ski and recreation area focused on youth, community, and outdoor activities.

- 50K trail run
- 25K trail run
- 10K trail run
- 5K fun run with obstacle course
The course is a loop with roughly two-thirds singletrack and one-third cross-country ski trails or two-track. Terrain mixes flowy rolling trails and technical singletrack through stands of old growth maple and hemlock. Runners pass a historic sugar shack and climb to the top of Mt. Ashwabay for panoramic views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands. The route traverses glacial ravines, sandy pine stands, and features natural details such as pink lady slipper orchids. The start area is at the Big Top Chautauqua Tent on the Mt. Ashwabay slopes.
