Thunder River

Thunder River

Thunder River is a late‑season trail running event staged from Marine Park in Cascade Locks, Oregon, on October 31, 2026. The event takes place within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

Two race options are offered:

• 25K point to point via Pacific Crest Trail and Gorge 400 trail.
• 50K lollipop using Pacific Crest Trail, Gorge 400 trail and Thunder Island loop.

Both routes pass under the Bridge of the Gods into Cascade Locks and conclude with a trail loop around Thunder Island before finishing at Marine Park. The race uses fully marked trails and includes aid stations, chip timing, live results, professional medical support, radio communications, post‑race food and beverages, custom finisher awards and event photography.

Registration fees vary by registration period: 50K ranges from $140 to $165 and 25K ranges from $110 to $135; fees exclude applicable taxes, processing fees and optional race swag. There is a $15 shuttle fee for runners taking the bus from Marine Park to the Wyeth Trailhead for the 25K start; note there is no shuttle back to the 25K start from the finish.

Event parking at Marine Park is subject to a $10 daily Port of Cascade Locks fee; additional curbside parking is available on Wa Na Pa St. Marine Park Campground and nearby hotels provide accommodation options. The nearest major airport is Portland International Airport, about 38 miles away.

Use of boot brushes is required by the US Forest Service at event check‑in or start areas. Dogs are not allowed on course or at aid stations; well behaved leashed dogs may remain in outdoor staging areas. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Trailkeepers of Oregon.
