Thunder River
Thunder River is a late season trail event held on October 31, 2026, staged from the Marine Park Pavilion in Cascade Locks, Oregon, in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The event offers two measured race options that use established trails and finish at the Marine Park staging area.
Race courses and key features:
- 50K lollipop style course that uses sections of the Pacific Crest Trail and Gorge 400 trail, and includes a trail loop around Thunder Island before finishing at Marine Park.
- 25K point to point course that follows the Pacific Crest Trail and Gorge 400 trail into Cascade Locks, passing under the Bridge of the Gods and finishing with the Thunder Island loop at Marine Park.
Logistics and services include a fully marked course, chip timing, live results, full service aid stations, professional medical support, radio communications, post race food and beverages, custom finisher awards, and professional photography. A $15 shuttle fee applies for 25K runners who ride the shuttle from Marine Park to the Wyeth Trailhead start. Registration fees vary by date with the 50K from $140 to $165 and the 25K from $110 to $135; fees do not include taxes or processing charges.
Additional information: event parking is at Marine Park with a $10 daily parking fee collected by the Port of Cascade Locks, additional curbside parking is available on Wa Na Pa St, and a 12 foot clearance limit applies at the Marine Park entrance. Camping is available at Marine Park Campground by separate reservation. US Forest Service boot brush use is required at check in and start areas. Dogs are not allowed on the course or inside the Pavilion; leashed dogs are permitted in outdoor staging areas only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
