Three Castles 50km Ultra Marathon
The Three Castles 50km Race is an ultra-marathon that follows the Medway Valley Walk from Rochester to Tonbridge. The route primarily consists of flat marked trails and paved towpaths alongside the River Medway. Participants pass three medieval castles and travel through various riverside locations including Aylesford, Maidstone, East Farleigh, and Yalding.
The distance for this event is:
- 50 km
The race begins in the shadow of Rochester Castle and concludes with a 400m victory lap at the Tonbridge athletics track. The course is fully marked and includes three stocked aid stations located at approximately 13 km, 24 km, and 37 km. A strict nine-hour cut-off time applies to all participants. To manage congestion on narrow trail sections, the event uses a three-wave staggered start based on estimated finish times.
The entry fee includes live race timing, GPS tracking, and medical support throughout the route. Finishers who complete the course within the time limit receive a medal. Additional services provided include bag transfers from the start to the finish line, as well as access to toilets, showers, and changing facilities at the final venue. Runners must be at least 20 years old and are required to carry a mobile phone and water containers with a minimum capacity of 1 litre. The event is cupless, and dogs or pacers are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
