Three Castles 50km Race
Three Castles 50km is a point to point trail ultramarathon that follows the Medway Valley Walk from Rochester to Tonbridge in Kent. The course covers 50 km and runs mainly along riverside towpaths, public trails and quiet country lanes.
The route begins beneath Rochester Castle and passes through riverside paths, villages and open countryside, with views of three medieval castles, historic locks and ancient bridges. The finish is on an athletics track at Tonbridge School Centre where every finisher completes one full lap before crossing the line.
The course is predominantly flat and fully marked. Race services include professional chip timing, live GPS tracking, four fully stocked aid stations located at approximately 13 km, 24 km, 34 km and 44.5 km, medical support, bag transfer from start to finish and a finish village with toilets, changing facilities, showers and refreshments.
All runners must carry a mobile phone, have a minimum 1 litre fluid capacity and carry a reusable cup. Recommended equipment includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, sun cream and on-course nutrition. Runners must be at least 20 years old on race day. The event enforces a strict 9 hour overall cut off and mandatory cut offs at checkpoint 3 and checkpoint 4. The route follows shared paths so runners should remain courteous to other users.
