Thompson Animal Hospital's Pirate Dash 5k & 1-Mile Fun Run takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Fairhope, AL at Knoll Park. The event is in its 11th year and supports the three Fairhope elementary schools: Fairhope East Elementary School, Fairhope West Elementary School, and J. Larry Newton Elementary School. The listed entry fees are $25 for the 5k, $25 for the 1-mile fun run, and $15 for the stay-in-bed option.
Course and logistics
The 5k route passes through the Fruit & Nut District of downtown Fairhope and finishes along Mobile Bay at Knoll Park. The 1-mile fun run is an out-and-back route along Bayview Avenue and was recently updated for safety. The 5k will use chip timing; the fun run will not be chip timed.
Packet pickup arrangements include sending participant packets and shirts home on February 25, 2026, for registrants who specified their school or homeroom. Other packets are available at packet pickup on the Friday before the race and at Knoll Park on race morning. Awards: 5k awards for top male and female in each age group; fun run finishers receive a foot bead and top elementary-age males and females receive prizes. Organizers advise allowing extra time for parking and not parking on Magnolia Avenue west of Bayview Avenue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
