Event Overview
The Thompson Animal Hospital's Pirate Dash 5k & 1-Mile Fun Run is a community event in Fairhope, Alabama. It takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, and is in its 11th year. The event supports Fairhope East Elementary School, Fairhope West Elementary School, and J. Larry Newton Elementary School.
Race Details
The event offers three options:
- A 5k race, which is chip-timed.
- A 1-Mile Fun Run.
- A Stay In Bed Option.
The 5k route goes through the Fruit & Nut District of downtown Fairhope and finishes along Mobile Bay at Knoll Park. The 1-Mile Fun Run is an out-and-back course along Bayview Avenue. Awards are given for the top male and female in each age group for the 5k. All Fun Run participants receive a foot bead, with prizes for the top five elementary-aged boys and girls.
Logistics
The starting point for the 5k is at Bayview Street and Fairhope Avenue. The Fun Run starts at Knoll Park (Henry George Bluff Park). Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at Fairhope United Methodist Church and on race morning at Knoll Park.
