The York 5k, 10k and Half Marathon Winter Warmer Run
The event is a running series held at York Racecourse offering three distances:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half marathon
Most of the course is on tarmac with sections on trail, including muddy stretches and paths. The layout is generally flat with a few undulating sections. The 5k is one lap, the 10k is two laps and the half marathon begins with an initial 1.1 km out and back before four full laps. The route is not suitable for wheelchair users; off road running buggies are permitted. Dogs on short leads are allowed.
Entries include chip timing with the timing chip on the race number bib, on course marshals, a finishers medal, and post race refreshments. Water is provided at the start and finish and at the 5k point for 10k runners; only cupped water will be available so participants may bring their own bottles. Bag storage and other event facilities are available but space is limited. Instant results are displayed via the event timing provider and participants receive an email update after the race.
The series supports the charity Shelter. Fundraising is optional with no minimum target. Entry prices increase on 2 January 2026 and online entries close on 14 February 2026 unless the event sells out. Free car parking is available on racedays and a shuttle bus links York Station to the racecourse for a return fare of £3.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
