The WMD Triathlon
The WMD Triathlon is a multisport event held on the South Coast in Weymouth. The competition features a variety of distances to accommodate different experience levels, including options for individual participants and relay teams. The event is based at Weymouth College, which serves as the race headquarters and provides essential facilities for athletes.
The race consists of three primary distances:
- Sprint: 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run.
- Classic: 1500m swim, 40km bike, and 10km run.
- Middle: 1900m swim, 90km bike, and 21km run.
The swimming portion takes place in open-water sea conditions with safety cover provided. The cycling segment utilizes rolling Dorset roads, and the running course is a multi-lap layout featuring regular aid stations. All courses are marked and marshalled to assist with navigation.
Registration and bike racking take place on the morning of the race. All materials, including numbers and timing chips for electronic tracking, are collected at the venue. Official finishers receive a medal upon completion. Participants can use the Lodmoor pay-and-display car park located near the race headquarters. Limited on-site camping may also be available at the college by direct arrangement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
