The Wizard 5
The Wizard 5 is a 5 mile multi-terrain race around the footpaths and quiet lanes of Alderley Edge, Nether Alderley and Hare Hill. The route follows its traditional line through woodland on The Edge, out to Hare Hill via Adders Moss and back across fields via Daniel Hill.
The event is organised by Wilmslow Running Club and all race proceeds are donated to charity. It is licensed by England Athletics and held under UK Athletics rules, Race Licence No 30941. In accordance with England Athletics rules the course is unsuitable for the use of headphones or for buggies.
There is a team competition. Each team comprises four runners, of whom two must be female, two must be male, one must be aged 35 or under and one must be aged 60 or over. Teams must be nominated in the week preceding the event.
Entry options include individual and reduced-price entries for running club members. Age eligibility is 18 to 89 on the event date. Entries close on Fri 24 Jul 2026 and the event currently operates a waiting list; payment is taken only if a place is offered and accepted. Transfers are permitted online up to 24 hours before the race for a fee; there are no deferrals and specific refund rules apply when the race is full.
Location details list the National Trust car park on Macclesfield Road, Nether Alderley SK10 4UB. Parking is very limited so car sharing or travelling from Alderley Edge train station is advised.
