The Wizard 5

The Wizard 5 is a 5 mile multi terrain race around the footpaths and quiet lanes of Alderley Edge, Nether Alderley and Hare Hill. The course follows its traditional route through the woodland on The Edge, out to Hare Hill via Adders Moss and back across the fields via Daniel Hill.

The event is organised by Wilmslow Running Club and all race proceeds are donated to charity. It is licensed by England Athletics and held under UK Athletics rules, Race Licence No 30941.

Entry options include an individual entry at £15 and a reduced price of £13 for running club members. Entries close on Fri 24 Jul 2026. There are no deferrals; transfers are permitted online up to 24 hours before the race for a fee of £3. If the race is full, cancellations up to seven days before the event receive an 80% refund.

There is a team competition. Each team comprises four runners, of whom two must be female and two must be male; one team member must be aged 35 or under and one must be aged 60 or over. Teams must be nominated in the week preceding the event.

In accordance with England Athletics rules, the course is unsuitable for the use of headphones or buggies. Parking is limited; the National Trust car park on Macclesfield Road, Nether Alderley SK10 4UB is free to runners on the night. Race numbers are collected at Race HQ in front of The Wizard Tea Rooms.
