The Whole Enchilada
The Whole Enchilada is a trail running race held at the Trail Hub in Uxbridge, Ontario. The Trail Hub is a family-owned 140-acre property with access to a trail network. Durham Region, known as the trail network capital of Canada, boasts over 240 km of hiking and biking trails.
The event offers several distances:
- The Whole Enchilada (50 km)
- The Half Enchilada (25 km)
- The Mini Enchilada (8 km)
- The Hike Enchilada (4 km)
- The Kids' Enchilada (4 km, timed)
- The Kids' Salsa (1 km fun run)
The courses go through varied landscapes including Durham Forest, Walker Woods, and Glen Major, with significant elevation gains on the longer routes. The event emphasizes sustainable practices: it is a cup-free event, so participants must bring their own reusable container. Additionally, 50% of the Hike Enchilada registration fees are donated to local environmental initiatives through the Green Durham Association.
Parking is available on-site, but carpooling is encouraged due to limited space. Race kit pickup takes place on race day. Washrooms are available at the start/finish area. Spectators are welcome, with the best viewing at the start/finish.
Some restrictions apply on the course: no dogs, no headphones, no strollers or baby joggers, and no nordic walking poles. Aid stations are provided along the routes. Awards are presented after the race in each category. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
