The Whole Enchilada - trail running event in Uxbridge, Ontario
The Whole Enchilada takes place at Trail Hub, a 140-acre property near Uxbridge in the Durham Region, referred to as the Trail Capital of Canada. The event uses local trail networks and connects to over 240 km of area trails, including Durham Forest, Walker Woods and Glen Major.
Green Newton Adventures organizes the event in partnership with Trail Hub. The property currently offers direct access to about 8 km of trails and has plans to expand a gravity-style bike park to 15 km and add more hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country ski routes. On-site facilities include washrooms and dining at a farm-to-table restaurant.
Courses include technical sections and notable elevation gain with steep ascents and descents. The event provides well-marked trails, staffed aid stations stocked with water, electrolytes and small food items, and support teams. The full distance has checkpoint time cutoffs; participants who do not meet these may be redirected to a shorter route or recorded as DNF.
Environmental measures are highlighted: 50% of Hike Enchilada registration fees are donated to local environmental causes, the event is cup-free and parking on site is limited. Race rules prohibit dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles. Spectators are welcome and awards are handed out in person.
