About the race
The Water Run 2026 is a fundraising running event held in Medicine Hat, Alberta, at The Veiner Centre, 225 Woodman Ave SE. The event partners with Nehemiah Construction Ministries to raise funds for clean water projects for the Turkana people of Kenya; the fundraising page lists a goal of CA$50,000 and current funds raised.
The event offers both in person and virtual participation and includes youth and adult categories. Distances available include:
- 3 km (youth and adult)
- 5 km (youth and adult)
- 10 km (youth and adult)
Entry fees vary by category and registration period; published fee ranges are CA$20 to CA$40 for youth and CA$40 to CA$60 for adults. Entry for in person participants includes a Water Run shirt, a medal, a swag bag, a race bib with RacePro chip timing, and post-race food and bottled water. In person timing is provided by RacePro; virtual participants are expected to self-time and upload results using an app.
Race day includes race package pickup and a rolling start format. Prizes are awarded to the top two male and female finishers in the 5 km and 10 km, and prizes are also awarded to top pledge earners for adults and kids.
