2026 Rattler Run
The Rattler Run is an annual event hosted by Medicine Hat College, now marking its 47th year. The race takes place on the college's main campus and offers a community oriented environment for runners, walkers, and individuals using wheelchairs or strollers. Participation is open to all ages and abilities, with a total entry limit of 1000 participants.
The event features three primary distances:
- 3 km Fun Run: A flat and scenic loop around the college grounds.
- 5 km Race: A route covering the 3 km course plus a section through Kin Coulee Park and the College Avenue hill.
- 10 km Race: An extended version of the 5 km course that includes the Ajax Trail bike path.
Timing and results are captured using chip technology. Awards include medals for the top three finishers in various age categories across all distances. Additionally, cash prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5 km and 10 km races based on gun time.
Race packages, including bibs and pre-ordered merchandise, are typically picked up the afternoon before the event at the college foyer. On the day of the event, vehicle access to the grounds is restricted to the Cultural Centre entrance, with designated parking available in the Library, West, North, and Cultural Centre lots. Post-race refreshments are provided to participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
