The Vitruvian Triathlon at Rutland Water
The Vitruvian Triathlon is a middle distance triathlon held at Rutland Water in Whitwell each September. The event offers triathlon, aquabike and relay options and is organised as a BTF affiliated event with full event day support.
The swim takes place in the sheltered bay of Whitwell creek in open water and uses two laps with wave starts and on-water safety cover. The bike course runs on open roads around Rutland Water over three laps, described as largely flat and fast while passing countryside, villages and woodland. The run follows tarmac perimeter tracks around the reservoir over two laps with a turn point near Normanton church.
Entry details include early bird fees for the main formats and a minimum age of 18 years. Entry packages list a premium finisher t-shirt (subject to availability), finisher medal, silicone swim hat, comprehensive medical support, free parking and detailed timing and results. The event day hub is at Whitwell where finishers are welcomed and results are posted.
A provisional event timetable covers practice swims, registration, bike check in, transition tours, multiple swim waves, cut off times and prize giving. Course maps and athlete information are provided by the organisers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
