The Trailwagger : Gilbert Lake State Park
The Trailwagger is the second annual trail event held at Gilbert Lake State Park in Laurens, NY. It is organized in collaboration with Super Heroes Humane Society and The Clark Sports Center Events team. The course is entirely within the park, with no car traffic on the routes and seasonal fall foliage on the grounds.
The event offers multiple course options and a team division:
- 3-mile run/walk on paved park roads and trails.
- 5-mile mostly on trails with ponds and creeks visible.
- 8-mile combined course equals 5 plus 3 mile routes.
- Two-person team division each member runs one distance.
A dog walk around the lake is included; the first 50 dogs will receive a bandana that matches the event shirt. Day of registration and bag pick-up are available on race day. A virtual participation option is offered; virtual participants may receive the event T-shirt if registered by the registration cutoff.
A portion of the event proceeds will support Super Heroes Humane Society. That organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Oneonta, NY, operated largely by volunteers. It provides animal sheltering, a free pet food pantry, low-cost spay and neuter services for cats, and crisis boarding. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
