About the race
Race the Lake Marathon & Half Marathon takes place on June 5, 2027 and offers four distances: the marathon (26.2 miles), the half marathon (13.1 miles), a 10K and a 5K. The marathon begins and ends at Glimmerglass State Park. The half marathon starts on State Highway 80 near the Fenimore Art Museum and also finishes at Glimmerglass State Park. All courses circle Otsego Lake clockwise and pass through Cooperstown, Springfield, Middlefield and the Town of Otsego, with views of Glimmerglass Opera, The Farmers Museum and The Otesaga Resort Hotel.
The courses include elevation changes and multiple course features. USA Track & Field Road Running Technical Council measurement certificates are on file for the marathon (NY17020JG) and the half marathon (NY14045JG). There are 15 water and aid stations along the courses, with GU, Honey Stinger products and Power Aid available at several stations. Multiple portable restrooms are placed on the courses. Entry fees vary by distance and by registration date; military discounts are offered for active and retired military with verification.
Entrants who pre-register by May 17 are guaranteed a tech shirt; every finisher receives a commemorative medal. Packet pickup, bib and bag procedures are provided in advance. Vans provide shuttle transport for half marathon runners between the finish area and the half marathon start. The event supports America’s VetDogs and had raised $17,000 for the program as of 2024.
