Race The Lake Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K : Cooperstown, NY
Race The Lake is the 12th annual running event around Otsego Lake held June 6, 2026, at Glimmerglass State Park in Cooperstown, New York. Distances offered include:
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K
- 5K
The marathon and half marathon follow a lakeside route that keeps Otsego Lake on the right and passes local landmarks such as the Otesaga Hotel, The Farmers’ Museum, The Fenimore Art Museum, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Both longer courses are USATF certified and may be used for Boston Marathon qualification. The 5K and 10K start and finish inside Glimmerglass State Park, with most of those courses routed through the park’s natural setting.
Courses remain open to traffic with electronic safety signs and law enforcement support. Aid stations are provided on the marathon and half marathon about every 1.5 to 2 miles, offering Gu, Honey Stingers, Powerade, and water. Restroom areas are available along the routes and the finish area is located on a beach with swimming, campground showers, food, beer, music, and awards.
Organizers have partnered with America’s VetDogs. The event raises funds and awareness for that organization, which trains and places service dogs and provides its services at no charge to recipients. Registered participants receive a commemorative medal and, if registered by May 20, 2026, are guaranteed a tech shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
