The SoMa Main Street Mile
The SoMa Main Street Mile is an evening road race held in the SoMa District of Little Rock. Now in its third year, the event has been designated as the RRCA Southern Region 1-Mile Championship. The course is designed to be fast, starting and finishing in the same location to accommodate spectators and a festival atmosphere.
Runners begin on South Main Street and follow a route that turns onto West 17th Street and South Louisiana Street. After reaching the halfway point, participants turn onto East Charles Bussey Avenue before returning to South Main Street for a final downhill straightaway to the finish line.
The event offers several distinct heats based on age and target pace:
- Kid's Mini Mile: For participants ages 12 and under.
- Women's Open Mile: For athletes with a pace above 6:00 per mile.
- Men's Open Mile: For athletes with a pace above 5:00 per mile.
- Women's Elite Mile: For athletes with a pace of 6:00 per mile or under.
- Men's Elite Mile: For athletes with a pace of 5:00 per mile or under.
All participants across all divisions receive a dry-fit t-shirt and a finisher's medal. A prize purse is available for the top five male and female finishers in the elite categories. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a local running store or at the race site on the evening of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
