The SKIPPO Trail Race
The SKIPPO Trail Race is a two-day trail running event held October 31 to November 1, 2026 at Castlewood State Park in Ballwin, Missouri. The event offers multiple distance options and several combined-distance challenges across the weekend.
Distances and challenges:
- 10k
- Half-Marathon
- 30k
- 10k to Half Marathon Challenge
- 40k Challenge 10k and 30k
The event traces its origins to 2009 as a 20k trail race composed of two 10k loops. In 2011 the organizers added 10k and 30k options and moved to a two-day format. In 2019 the original 20k distance was changed to a half marathon.
There is a team competition for the Saturday 10k. Teams may include up to five runners, and the three fastest members on each team have their times combined to determine the team result.
The SKIPPO Trail Race is the first race in the Big River Trail Series; series scoring uses a runner’s best performances across multiple events and full series entry includes a per-race discount.
Awards include gift cards for the top overall male and female finishers in the 10k, Half-Marathon and 30k. The top three finishers in each age group receive a custom Skippo award. Age groups are 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus.
Packet pickup is available pre-race on October 29, 2026 at Big River West County and onsite on race day before the events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
