The Skippo
The Skippo is a two-day trail running event at Castlewood State Park held on October 31 and November 1, 2026. The event began in 2009 as a 20k trail race made of two 10k loops on mostly flat terrain with a notable set of park stairs. It now includes additional distance options and runs across a weekend.
Race distances include:
- 10K
- Half Marathon
- 30K
Packet pickup is available before race weekend at Big River Running Company West County and on race days at the event staging area in Castlewood State Park. A marked bag drop is provided near the start/finish; participants should mark bags with a name or race number.
The event offers two multi-race challenges that combine the Saturday 10K with a Sunday distance: a 10K plus 30K option and a 10K plus Half Marathon option. Challenge finishers receive a custom challenge award.
There are entry limits set by park requirements; the event can reach capacity and changes or refunds are allowed only under certain circumstances. Top three in each ten-year age group receive custom awards. All entrants receive a custom long sleeve tech shirt; all finishers receive a Skippo mug, and half and 30K finishers also receive a custom medal. Complimentary finisher photos and videos are available and race results can be delivered via text message when a phone number is provided during registration.
