The Shortest Day
The Shortest Day is a dawn to dusk winter trail challenge at Box Hill, Dorking, held on Saturday 19 December 2026. The event takes place from sunrise to sunset and is organised by The Trail Run Collective at Box Hill Main Car Park.
Participants run a roughly 10 mile trail loop with approximately 2,400 ft of elevation gain per lap. Runners may stop after any completed loop and therefore choose how many laps to complete within the daylight hours.
Entry requires a minimum age of 18 on the event date. Entries open 12 March 2026 and close 12 December 2026. Entry fees change in tiers during the entry period.
Entry includes full insurance, medical cover, aid stations and a finisher medal. The event offers an optional XCover product that may allow a refund if a participant cannot attend for unforeseen reasons.
