Ugly Sweater 5K - Columbia
The event centers on a 5K run and a Best Dressed Pet contest at Gills Creek Memorial Park in Forest Acres, Columbia, SC. The running event covers 3.1 Miles and will be officially timed by Charlestowne Road Race Services. Packet pickup is available at Fleet Feet Forest Acres and there is also packet pickup on race day near Gills Creek Memorial Park.
Awards are planned for top finishers overall and for top finishers in age divisions. Divisions covered include 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and up. Separate prizes are listed for the participant with the ugliest holiday ensemble and for the best dressed pet. Dogs must be registered to be eligible for pet awards. The Best Dressed Pet contest notes a canine themed gift basket as a prize.
Proceeds and donations benefit Friends of the Met CAC, a nonprofit that supports the Metropolitan Children’s Advocacy Center and its services for children suspected of abuse and neglect. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
