The Scenic 7
The Scenic 7 is a seven-mile road race organised by Islwyn Running Club on 29 July 2026. The course runs along Cwmcarn Forest Drive and the event raises funds for St John Ambulance - Pontllanfraith Brigade.
The route is described as undulating, with mainly gentle slopes and a few steeper climbs. The course is stated to be unsuitable for wheelchair athletes. Race numbers can be collected from the registration desk.
Prizes are awarded in several categories, including overall 1st to 3rd, female 1st to 3rd, veteran categories (first male vet 40+ and female vet 35+; first male vet 50+ and 60+ and female vet 45+ and 55+), and first male and female teams (three to score). A UKA Race Licence has been applied for.
Entry fees are listed as £7.00 for affiliated runners and £9.00 for non-affiliated runners, plus a small booking charge. A service fee of 4 percent applies to each sign-up, with a minimum of 50p. Online entries close at 9:00pm on 28 July 2026. Entries on the day are available. Once entered there are no cancellations or deferrals; places may be transferred to another runner via the original registration account before 28 July 2026. Total places are listed as 400.
