The Sawtry 10

The Sawtry 10 is a UKA-licensed one-lap road race held from Sawtry Village Academy (Fen Lane, Sawtry, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire PE28 5TQ). The course covers 10 mile on quiet, gently undulating country roads and returns to the school field for the finish. The overall elevation is approximately 360 ft.

Runners follow a loop that passes Hamerton Wildlife Centre, Aversley and Archers Woods, with a marked crossing point near mile 9. One village road will have a partial closure; otherwise the route is on open roads with marshals and caution signage. The event uses chip timing, has two lead bikes and a tail bike, and an adjudicator in attendance. Paramedic medical cover is provided on race day.

Facilities at race headquarters include toilets (including accessible toilets), supervised bag drop, first aid provision and food and refreshments for sale. Showers are not available unless participants are members of Sawtry Academy Leisure. There are marshalled parking arrangements with a remote grassed car park and designated disabled parking.

Age and entry details: minimum age on race day is 17. The event holds a licence for up to 400 runners and had 310 entrants the previous year. All finishers receive a commemorative medal. Prizes include trophies and cash awards, and a cash prize is offered for female and male course records. Water is provided at three points on course at about 3, 5.5 and 7.5 miles.
