Run to Cure VHL
The Run to Cure VHL is a running and walking event held at Riverdale Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This inaugural event functions as a timed fun run and walk to support research for Von Hippel-Lindau Syndrome (VHL). VHL is a rare genetic disorder caused by a mutation in the VHL gene, which can lead to the development of various tumors and cysts throughout the body. All proceeds from the vent are donated to the VHL Alliance to assist in raising life expectancy and finding a cure for the condition.
The event offers two main distances for participants:
- 5k
- 1 mile
Registration is available for both adults and children. A specific registration category exists for children aged 10 and under which does not include a t-shirt. For participants in the standard paid categories, an event t-shirt is included provided registration is completed by the mid-May deadline. While the main event is timed, limited registration may be available on the day of the event without time tracking or a t-shirt.
The course is located at 2000 E 24th St. and is designed to be family-friendly. Coffee is provided for those in attendance. The event is organized by the non-profit organization Good Race, which was established by a team of family and friends to raise awareness and support for individuals living with this genetic disorder.
