The Rough Rider Memorial 5K
The Rough Rider Memorial 5K takes place on September 19, 2026 at Black and Yellow Park (Calhoun City Recreation Park) in Calhoun, GA 30701. The event honors the 14 Rough Riders killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan. Proceeds support VFW Post 5376 to maintain and improve the Rough Rider Memorial Wall at the 1-108th Headquarters and to fund Soldier, Veteran, and family functions at the post.

Registration opens April 23 and closes September 13 for guaranteed T-shirt sizes and the reduced pre-race fee. Published fees include a $30 pre-race registration for the 5K, a $25 Tot Trot fee, a $30 virtual option fee, and a higher race day registration rate.
The route uses paths in and around the Calhoun City Recreation Department park. The course is described as mostly flat and scenic and is USATF certified. The start and finish are located inside the park and there is parking adjacent to the ball fields. Packet pick-up is held on-site the morning of the event. Awards are planned for top overall and masters finishers and for the top three male and female in age categories from 10 and under through 80 and over. The event occurs rain or shine.
