Event Overview
The Rising is a community running event held on October 31, 2026, in Oviedo, Florida. The race is organized by the Oviedo Run Club and follows a tradition of supporting local charities such as HopeHelps, Inc. and The Oviedo Preservation Project. Area schools participate as teams to compete for grants based on attendance levels.
The course for the main distances begins in front of the Historic Sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church. Participants follow an out-and-back route along the Cross Seminole Trail. The youth event takes place on a tree-canopied road.
Distances and Categories
Participants can choose from several event options:
- The Rising Double Dare 10k: A 6.2 mile running race.
- The Rising 5K Run/Walk: A 3.1 mile course for runners and walkers.
- Virtual Run: A 3.1 mile distance that can be completed remotely; race packets are mailed to participants.
- Kid Fun Run: A distance of up to 1 mile.
Awards and Sustainability
Cash awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in both the 5k and 10k races. Finishers' awards and age group awards, categorized in five-year increments, are also distributed.
