The MTC Richmond Ultra

The MTC Richmond Ultra is a point to point ultra marathon covering a distance of 33 miles. The course begins at Travelodge Kingston (KT1 2PD) and follows a route alongside the River Thames, passing numerous historical landmarks and architectural sites.

Participants run past Richmond Lock and Kew Palace before crossing or passing a series of famous bridges. These include Chiswick, Barnes, Hammersmith, Putney, Wandsworth, and Battersea Bridges. The route continues through central London past Westminster, Waterloo, London, and Tower Bridges, ultimately concluding at the Thames Barrier. The course involves approximately 105 metres of ascent and 109 metres of descent.

The event includes two checkpoints along the way where water and nutritional supplies are provided. Typical offerings include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, and various drinks. The organisers accommodate specific dietary requirements such as gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options if notified in advance.

There is a strict time restriction for this event, requiring runners to maintain a minimum pace of 4.0 miles per hour, including stops. Specific closure times are enforced at both checkpoints and the finish line. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and a technical t-shirt, mug, or hat. First-place male and female runners are awarded a trophy.
