The MTC Richmond Ultra
The MTC Richmond Ultra is a 33 mile point to point race from Travelodge Kingston KT1 2PD to the Thames Barrier. The route follows the River Thames and passes Richmond Lock, Kew Palace and a succession of river crossings including Chiswick Bridge, Barnes Bridge, Hammersmith Bridge, Putney Bridges, Wandsworth Bridge, Battersea Bridge, Albert Bridge, Chelsea Bridge, Grosvenor Bridge, Vauxhall Bridge, Lambeth Bridge, Westminster Bridge, Hungerford Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, Millennium Bridge, Southwark Bridge, London Bridge and Tower Bridge.
There are two checkpoints on course that provide water and basic nutrition. Example items include malt loaf, cakes, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. The organiser endeavours to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian requirements if advised at entry. Drop bags may be left at checkpoints but participants should plan to be largely self-sufficient.
All finishers receive a bespoke Richmond Ultra medal and a race technical item such as a t shirt, mug or hat. The first male and female finishers receive bespoke trophies. Entrants must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour including stops or they will be removed from the race. Checkpoint closure times are CP1 3 hours 10 minutes after race start, CP2 5 hours 45 minutes after race start and finish 7 hours 55 minutes after race start.
Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or downloaded route maps and a mobile phone with sufficient battery. Participants must be self-sufficient for transport to the start and from the finish. Entry is non refundable and the standard individual fee is quoted as £80. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
