The MTC Richmond Ultra
The MTC Richmond Ultra is a point-to-point ultramarathon of 33 miles from Travelodge Kingston (KT1 2PD) to the Thames Barrier. The route follows the River Thames and passes Richmond Lock, Kew Palace and many river crossings and bridges, including Chiswick, Hammersmith, Putney, Battersea, Albert, Chelsea, Vauxhall, Lambeth, Westminster, Waterloo, Blackfriars, Southwark, London Bridge and Tower Bridge. Total ascent is 105 metres and total descent is 109 metres. All finishers receive a bespoke Richmond Ultra medal and a race technical t-shirt, mug or hat; the first male and female finishers receive bespoke trophies. The event lists UTMB points as t.b.a. Course, logistics and rules
The race has two staffed checkpoints that supply water and small food items; example supplies include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Organisers endeavour to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets; competitors may leave drop bags at checkpoints and are advised to manage personal dietary needs. Competitors must be self-sufficient for transport to the start and from the finish. Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or downloaded route and a mobile phone. Entrants must be aged at least 20 years on race day. The event enforces a minimum average of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this will be withdrawn. Entry fee is stated as £80 and payments are non-refundable. Registration is at the Travelodge Kingston event location to collect race numbers and present kit for inspection.
