MTC Richmond Ultra
The MTC Richmond Ultra is a point-to-point ultramarathon covering 33 miles along the River Thames. The route runs from Travelodge Kingston (KT1 2PD) to the Thames Barrier, passing landmarks such as Richmond Lock, Kew Palace and a succession of Thames bridges including Chiswick, Barnes, Hammersmith, Putney, Wandsworth, Battersea, Albert, Chelsea, Grosvenor, Vauxhall, Lambeth, Westminster, Waterloo, Blackfriars, Millennium, Southwark, London and Tower Bridges before reaching the Thames Barrier.
The race includes two staffed checkpoints that provide water and basic nutritional items. Typical checkpoint provisions may include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Organisers endeavour to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian needs; competitors with other dietary requirements may use drop bags left at checkpoints. Competitors are responsible for their own travel to the start and from the finish.
Mandatory equipment includes a GPX device or downloaded route/maps with adequate battery backup and a mobile phone. Entrants must maintain an average of 4.0 miles per hour including stops; those who fall below this requirement will be removed from the race. All finishers receive a bespoke Richmond Ultra medal and a race memento such as a technical t-shirt, mug or hat; the first male and female finishers are awarded bespoke trophies. Entry is non refundable and the standard individual fee is £80. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
