The MTC Richmond Ultra
The MTC Richmond Ultra is a point-to-point road and riverside ultra covering 33 miles. The route begins at Travelodge Kingston (KT1 2PD) and follows the River Thames through Richmond Lock and past Kew Palace, continuing along a sequence of bridges and river landmarks before finishing at the Thames Barrier.
The event includes two staffed checkpoints that provide water and small food items. Example checkpoint supplies listed by the organiser include malt loaf, cake, jam, peanut butter, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. The organisers aim to cater for Gluten Free, Vegan and Vegetarian needs where possible; competitors may leave drop bags at checkpoints for other dietary requirements.
All finishers receive a bespoke Richmond Ultra medal; organisers also provide additional event merchandise such as a Mount to Coast head scarf and a technical t-shirt, mug or hat. The first male and first female finishers receive bespoke Richmond Ultra trophies.
Competitors must be self-sufficient for travel to the start and from the finish and carry mandatory kit. Required items include a GPX device or the route downloaded to a phone with sufficient battery backup and a mobile phone. Entrants must maintain a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph including stops; those who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn from the event.
The course lists total ascent of 105 metres and total descent of 109 metres. UTMB points are to be announced. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
