The MTC Richmond Ultra

The MTC Richmond Ultra is a point-to-point ultra marathon of 33 miles. The course runs from Travelodge Kingston (KT1 2PD) along the River Thames, passing Richmond Lock, Kew Palace and multiple Thames bridges, and finishes at the Thames Barrier. Total ascent is 105 metres and total descent is 109 metres. A course record of 03:49:00 is listed.

All finishers receive a bespoke Richmond Ultra medal and a Mount to Coast head scarf. The first male and female finishers receive a bespoke Richmond Ultra trophy.

Logistics and rules

The event has two checkpoints that provide water and nutritional items. Example checkpoint food includes malt loaf, cake, jam, peanut butter, cheese or marmite sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Competitors may leave drop bags at checkpoints but are asked to be considerate of other runners. Competitors must be self-sufficient for transport to the start and from the finish.

The organisers require a minimum average pace of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who fall below this requirement will be withdrawn from the race. Entrants must be at least 20 years old on race day. Mandatory kit includes a GPX device or downloaded route/maps and a mobile phone.
