Event details

The MTC Richmond Ultra takes place on 9 August 2026. It is a point-to-point ultra running event of 33 miles from Travelodge Kingston (KT1 2PD) to the Thames Barrier. The route follows the River Thames and passes Richmond Lock, Kew Palace and a sequence of bridges including Chiswick Bridge, Barnes Bridge, Hammersmith Bridge, Putney Bridges, Wandsworth Bridge, Battersea Bridge, Albert Bridge, Chelsea Bridge, Grosvenor Bridge, Vauxhall Bridge, Lambeth Bridge, Westminster Bridge, Hungerford Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, Millennium Bridge, Southwark Bridge, London Bridge and Tower Bridge before reaching the Thames Barrier. Total ascent is 105 metres and total descent is 109 metres. A GPX file and route maps are provided by the organiser.

Logistics and rules

The race is organised by Ultra Running Ltd. Competitors must be self-sufficient for travel to the start and from the finish. The event has two checkpoints that provide water and basic nutrition; example items include malt loaf, cake, jam, peanut butter, cheese or marmite sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Drop bags can be left at checkpoints on request. Entrants must carry mandatory kit such as a GPX device or downloaded route and a mobile phone. Competitors must maintain an average of at least 4.0 mph or be removed from the event. Entry is non-refundable; standard individual entry is £80 and a deferral option to the next year is available (fee applies). All finishers receive a bespoke Richmond Ultra medal.
