The Race to Grand Oaks
The Race to Grand Oaks is a community running event held at Grand Oaks High School in Spring, Texas. The event provides three distinct distances that take place throughout the high school campus:
- 1k kids run (restricted to participants aged 12 and under)
- 2 Mile run or walk
- 5k race
The event serves as a fundraiser and a friendly competition between various school communities. Proceeds from the race are shared between the Grand Oaks High School and York Girls' Cross Country and Track teams. Participants have the opportunity to support local education through a voting system. During registration, every participant can vote for a school within the Grand Oaks High School feeder zone. The three schools that receive the highest number of votes are awarded a monetary donation for their physical education departments.
Additional votes for a preferred school can be secured through donations to The Youth Alliance, a local non-profit organization that supports students with food insecurities and supplies. All participants who complete their respective courses receive a finisher medal. Race packets provided to entrants include an event shirt.
