The Pocket Run 5K
The Pocket Run 5K is a charity running event held at Rotary Park along the waterfront in Ajax, Ontario. Scheduled for October 3, 2026, the event is hosted by Canadian Olympian and professional sprinter Duan Asemota. The net proceeds from the race are directed toward supporting Right To Play Rwanda, specifically focusing on STEM programs, coding, and robotics for children.
The event features a timed 5 km course on the Rotary Waterfront Trail. This route is an out-and-back path that is flat and scenic, running east along the Lake Ontario shoreline for 2.5 kilometers before returning to the start line. The race is open to participants of all abilities, including both runners and walkers.
In addition to the main distance, the event includes a unique feature:
- Fastest 40: A timed 40-yard dash challenge open to all registered bib holders, officially timed by OVR Performance.
The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario (Road Race #2981). Registered participants receive an official chip-timed bib, an event T-shirt, and a finisher medal. The event site at Rotary Park also hosts a post-race social area with sponsor activations, music, and a recovery zone. For those unable to attend in person, a Strava challenge allows for global participation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
