The Piggyback Dash
The Piggyback Dash is an annual running event in Union, Missouri, held at 310 Autumn Hill Drive. It offers three distances and routes through the streets of Union, with a finish at the top of Autumn Hill.
Distances
- 10K, chip timed, medal awarded
- 5K, chip timed, medal awarded
- 2K (1.2 miles), fun run/walk, not timed, no medal
The 10K and 5K begin together. The 5K follows a single loop and returns onto Autumn Hill Drive toward the finish, while 10K runners continue straight and run about an additional three miles through Union. The course is described as rolling. Aid stations are provided along the 5K and 10K routes, and post race refreshments are available.
Medals are awarded for the 10K and 5K. The 2K is a noncompetitive fun run/walk and is not officially timed. Runners who reach the bottom of Autumn Hill may voluntarily carry someone piggyback up the hill to the finish for extra finisher swag; this piggyback portion is optional. All proceeds benefit the Lance Purschke Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Union R-XI Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
