The Phrozen Jewel 5K/10K is an annual event organized by the I.S. Hankins-F.A. Johnson Education Foundation in conjunction with the Delta Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Entering its 8th year, the event supports various community initiatives, including college scholarships, mentoring programs, and literacy projects in Central Florida.
The event is held in a hybrid format, offering both in-person and virtual participation options:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- Children's 5K
- Kiddie Dash
The in-person portion takes place at Jay Blanchard Park in Orlando, Florida. This version includes a Zumba warm-up before the start of the race. Participants in the in-person event are eligible for awards, which are presented to the top three men and women overall, as well as the top man and woman in each age group.
Virtual participants can complete their distance at any location of their choosing within a 7-day window. Results for virtual runners can be submitted via the Strava app or by providing proof of time through smartwatches or phones. All registrants receive a t-shirt, a medal, and a registration bag. The event is open to participants of all skill levels, including runners, walkers, and rollerskaters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
