The Parkway Mile
The Parkway Mile is a one mile running event on June 21, 2026 in Burlington, Vermont, at the intersection of Champlain Parkway and Home Ave (44.451268, -73.217824). The route is located on the Champlain Parkway, which will soon be open to traffic from I-189 to Lakeside Avenue.
The course is an out and back on the northbound lane beginning approximately at the Champlain Parkway and Home Ave intersection. The event is open to runners and walkers who can complete the mile in less than 25 minutes and the field is capped at 400 registrants.
Organizers anticipate four to five waves of roughly 70 to 100 people, divided by age and gender, plus a non-competitive timed wave open to all ages and to people who want to run with a child or parent. Wave assignments will be set about two weeks before the event based on registrant demographics and on requests to run together. An awards ceremony will recognize overall finishers in female, male, and non-binary categories and top performers in the age groups: under 14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus.
All finishers will receive a unique finisher's certificate. Strollers and pets are strictly prohibited; spectators are allowed on the southbound lane for most of the route. All race proceeds will be donated to the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS). Registration opens 5/26/2026 and closes 6/20/2026; the registration fee is $25. If the race sells out, transfers will be allowed for $10 per registrant and a waitlist may be used. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
