The Osprey Sprint Triathlon
The Osprey Sprint Triathlon is an early season sprint event held at The Osprey Leisure Centre in Portland, DT5 1BD. The race uses individual time trial starts with athletes allocated start times based on predicted swim speed. Registration is carried out on the day at the venue and race numbers and any required items are issued at registration.
The event comprises three short segments:
- 300m pool swim, 12 lengths with individual time trial starts
- 15km bike, scenic loop around Portland Island including Portland Bill
- 5km run, off road along Hamm Beach
Organisers describe the swim start as calm and controlled, the bike route as scenic, and the run as flat and off road. The event emphasises straightforward logistics and clear organisation, and is positioned as an early season check of fitness.
Spectators are welcome and a café on site serves drinks and snacks during the event. Entries are limited and may sell out before the closing date. Entrants must be aged 15 or over on 31/12/2026. The standard entry fee is £45 and refund protection insurance is recommended in case injury or illness prevents participation.
