The Osprey Sprint Triathlon
The Osprey Sprint Triathlon is an early-season sprint event held at The Osprey Leisure Centre in Portland. The race combines a pool swim, a road bike loop around the island and an off-road run along the coast, and is presented as both a season opener for experienced athletes and an accessible first triathlon for newcomers.
Distances
- Swim: 300 m pool swim, 12 lengths, individual time-trial starts
- Bike: 15 km scenic loop around Portland Island including Portland Bill
- Run: 5 km off-road run along Hamm Beach
Starts use individual time-trial format with allocated start times based on predicted swim speed. Entrants are required to provide an accurate swim time in HH:MM:SS format, for example 00:07:30, to ensure correct start order.
Event logistics include on-the-day registration where participants receive required race items and a mandatory race brief that must be read before race day. Spectators are welcome and The Legacy Café will be open during the event. Entries are limited and may sell out before the closing date. Refund protection insurance is recommended in case injury or illness prevents participation. The event is organised by Bustinskin Triathlon Club and listed entry price is £45.
