The Mudder

About the race
The Mudder is a mud run held on a working sheep and beef farm at Rangitikei Farmstay Woolshed, 498 Makuhou Road, Marton. The course uses the farm's natural terrain, including hills, swamps, dams and springs, so entrants share the area with sheep, cattle and horses.
The event offers two course lengths:
- 3 km
- 5 km
Several natural obstacles are highlighted from past events. A spring fed bog requires a hands and knees slog as the ground turns to deep mud. A floating spongy feature called Rubber Island moves with each step and exits through waist high mud. An old tree known as Monster Mac has a large trunk and visible roots. There are also multiple slip and slide sections and a dam with a floating island to crawl over.
On the day facilities include a woolshed registration area, secure bag drop, individual changing rooms, warm showers and food and beverage stalls. Entrants receive a wrist band race number and a Mudder medal at the finish. Costumes are welcome and prizes are awarded for best dressed teams and individuals.
The event message promotes physical activity for mental health with the phrase Move your body, Shift your mind. Spectators are welcome but must stay off the course and respect farm boundaries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
